13/09/18: Today i'm getting actors for my advert, Ive asked a number of people in person so depending on who i go for it'll look like i am using the wrong screen shots of the actors i've asked. The list of actors i've asked goes from my close friends, to distant friends to family members and people within my class. a lot of people have said yes to being within my advert so i have a number of actors i could use. I want to have a young child within my advert with a farther figure, old women and 4 teenagers and a couple as well. i want these people to show that drug misuse can effect anyone. 

 

25/09/18: Ive been looking for a makeup student for awhile now, trying to find someone who could do special effects in order to make monsters in order to further my project. I looked a number of fears and two came up more than most and those are spider, snakes and clowns. some like snakes and clowns are more likely because of the price it will be to create the spider. it'll involve to buying a glass eye and a number of other prosthetics as well what'll coast more than me and the make up student matt can afford. clowns are more basic and i'll try to do that myself instead of making someone else. So the snake is the most likely to be done if it's possible to do so. Zombies are also another monster i want made, i want this because i believe it'll hit home with a number of people, showing that if you take drugs you'll have darkened eyes, rotting skin and pale reflection. i asked a number of people, including class mates, friends and family to see what they think and a lot of them agree with me that zombies have a similar look to stereotypical drug addicts. So when i was on the bus and i over heard a conversation where  someone said about doing makeup at college, i talked to them abut it and they agreed to help me in doing my advert and said they'll do it if i take pictures of the actors so he can use them for his portfolio. So he'll meet me in class tomorrow to talk about what he can do and what he cant do.

26/09/18: Today i talked to him and we went over what we were going to do and i got a lot of my ideas written down and he confirmed a lot of what i thought. he was unable to do the spider, mostly because of how long it'l take to get everything onto it. and he was unable to film on all free days i was planning to do it on, which can be seen as a good thing because then i'll be able to do retakes with my own makeup skills, we agreed that the clown effect i'll most likely be able to do on my own without his support with cheapish make up so thats most likely the plan. So we settles on doing a lizard effect where the skin is being ripped open and doing a zombie effect to show the face of drug addicts have nasty side effects. the lizard will have paler skin, darkened eyes, with rotten teeth and lizard features. The zombies will be having raised cheek bones, rotten skin with also pale skin as well and darkened eyes with rotten teeth. we have also talked about filming on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

01/10/18: Today was the first day i filmed and it went really well in my opinion. My make up student, Matt was unable to attend but it was fine, i did an my version of a killer clown, and got a lot of good shots and tested different lighting so i can see which one looks better and also tried a lot of different camera angles to see what looks the best with what. The make up effects were simple with white make up and a mask to cover the parts what weren't in paint and with darkened eyes but i added too much blue and it made the outer eye look completely blue. If i were to improve next time it would be to learn more about how to do make up.

02/10/18: Yesterday some of my shots didn't go as well as i was hoping so i went out to re do one of my shots, it was a POV shot and it didn't go as well as i was hoping it would so i'm re doing that shot to hopefully improve it, theres no harm in trying. i also decided to get some filler to length out my advert just incase i need it, so i got a couple good shots of someone misusing drugs with a few cheap suits what actually look a lot better than i thought they would, just needed to get the right lighting

03/10/18: Today was the day i finally got to have the main bit of my advert filmed, matt finch my make up student was free today and tomorrow so we got my actor Kieran Hurford and Chloe henley together to film, Kieran being the human lizard, we put lizard effects on his face and gave of a really good look and i though combined with the fake blood made him looking very unappealing but because of the heat he sweated a lot and most of the final product was lost before we started filming, we also practiced a fake slap using techniques i learned doing drama where the person gets slapped quickly moves their hand up so it ends more as a high five than anything else, but they struggles to get a grip on how to do that effectively so to make it easier for them we decided to scrap that idea.

04/10/18: today was the last day i need to film i believe, the problem with doing it with makeup is that retakes take up a lot of resources, especially ones i don't have, which makes this a lot harder knowing that redo's aren't an option. but i did get a lot of cool shots that i'm proud of even though my original plan had to be sapped because of the filming location. i was unable get a decent shot there, combined with the fact make up took 2 and a half hours, made me feel very pressured. but i am happy with the final result. I just need to start editing everything i can down into a 30 second video and while i have 108 bits of footage, i think i'll need to cut a lot of it out which makes me want to do a directors cut as well. but of course the 30 second advert has to come first.

 

08/10/18: On this date is started to edit my project together, I didn't get too far, most of the day i spent trying to find music whats sort beat is slowly but has moments where it has loud and heavy beats within it.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FSiyKjShZ0 That is the song link i ended up choosing it because it was exactly what i was looking for, i edited argument scenes to it and go a great result to it. i've also edited to the beat as well and i think that the final edit of the project will end up good because i want it to slowly build up and end will the slap to make it have a hard hitting. so i need to have a long hard hitting cut to make it hit the target audience. Im also glad i retook some shots and i'm glad i did because it wouldn't have ended too well with the POV shot. i did the first act completed except without any tint.

09/10/18: I edited a lot today, getting the first and second act in, without any effects however. i was feeling very happy with my advert so far, i had to match bits of it to the beats but not too much because i didn't want it to be a beat edit. Julian also did tell me to add dialog but i felt like that wasn't what i wanted, i wanted people to be able to fill what they're shouting themselves so that they can imagine its something what can relate to them and they're situation. but i believe that when i add effects to it, it'll bring the whole thing, together, thats thee only thing i can think of to improve my edit so far. 

 

10/10/18: On this day i added special effect, into my advert. even though Julian and Allan my lectures did help me know how to do a lot of the effects, added cross dissolves and also made the screen smaller so i can line everything up to the rule of thirds to make it look better. I also used a lot of colour psychology. i made the bits where the people take drugs look more darker with a dark blue tint while the people who don't take drugs with a happier orange tint to trick people thinking that drugs are bad. i was also decided not to do the slap in slow motion because it killed time and the ad has to be 30 seconds so i cant do that without cutting more out and i've already cut so much out as it is. i also uploaded it to youtube and go a lot of good feed back about use of colours and cinematography. next time i would like to experiment more and find out how to use effects properly, i was very worried i haven't used my effects like cross dissolve correctly.

11/10/18: Today i decided to make a extended version of my advert to practice my editing skills and to get it to how i originally wanted it to look. By adding a lot more into it and not having too worry about timing. felt actually really happy with it even though i barley used effects or did anything new to it. i just felt with a longer run time it gets the point across more because its very slow paste and they're able to look it and take they're time to understand it without it being rushed. I do feel like i coud've improved a lot through my ad such as the text i used and the quotes i used as well were all wrong and if i had more time i feel like i could've corrected these errors

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

14/10/18: recently i decided to re edit my video by the advice of my lecturers. they said that adding black screens with white text can improve my advert so i edited down with bits i didn't want and edited those bits of text he told me to do and now it goes with beats and it still isn't a beat edit it just goes well with the cuts. i re-uploaded my advert to youtube naming it, updated version. So im starting to evaluate it and if i could improve anything i would have improved the ad by editing down the smack scene and adding slow motion  but i feel like that would've added too much for people to understand and no enough time to make it all work but i would've liked to find away.

18/10/18: I finished my evaluation, i had to rewrite most of it because i didn't save and my computer turned off so  when i rewrite it i couldn't remember everything i orginally wrote and since i didn't write the same amount as before i must've missed something what i orginally wrote or i must've phrased it differently. but i did do as much as i could and i am very proud of what i have written and i believe i have covered everything that i coud've even though i did reoaeat alot of the things ive done wrong. this can be seen i was being too hard on myslef but i felt like i wanted them to know i was awear of my weaknesses and if i can improve anything in my​ evaluation and i would change the ending i did feel like i rushed it and im not 100% on what i said i agree on but i dont know what else i would've done instead
